Neither of the bolts will close all the way for the same reason: the ejector and extractor won't align correctly. They are both hitting the breech face BELOW their slots in the barrel. There is absolutely nothing to be ashamded of with a New York rifle, More of a personel thing and I prefer the Oregon rifles. The way the rear rest makes contact with the stock is a very small spot. There is a tiny point of contact on each side of the stock.
